Seventeenth Dynasty of Egypt
The Seventeenth Dynasty of Egypt was a period that lasted from around 1650 to 1550 BCE, during the Second Intermediate Period. This dynasty is notable for its struggle against the Hyksos, a foreign group that had taken control of parts of Egypt. The rulers of the Seventeenth Dynasty worked to reclaim their territory and restore native Egyptian rule.
Key pharaohs of this dynasty included Seqenenre Tao and his sons, Kamose and Ahmose I. Their efforts laid the groundwork for the eventual expulsion of the Hyksos and the establishment of the Eighteenth Dynasty, marking the beginning of the New Kingdom in Egypt.
