Sepals
Sepals are the outermost parts of a flower, typically green and leaf-like in appearance. They serve to protect the developing bud before it opens and can also support the flower once it blooms. In many plants, sepals are arranged in a whorl and can vary in size, shape, and color.
In addition to their protective role, sepals can play a part in attracting pollinators. Some flowers have colorful sepals that mimic petals, enhancing their visual appeal. This can be particularly important for plants like orchids and hibiscus, where the sepals contribute to the overall beauty of the flower.
