Senate of Spain
The Senate of Spain is the upper house of the Cortes Generales, which is the national legislature of Spain. It is responsible for representing the regions of Spain and reviewing legislation proposed by the lower house, the Congress of Deputies. Senators are elected for a term of four years, and the Senate plays a crucial role in the legislative process.
The Senate consists of 266 members, with 208 elected by the public and 58 appointed by regional legislatures. Its main functions include debating laws, approving budgets, and overseeing the government. The Senate also has the power to propose amendments to legislation and to participate in the appointment of certain officials.
