Selkup community
The Selkup community is an indigenous group primarily located in the Siberian region of Russia, particularly in the Tomsk and Khanty-Mansi areas. They are part of the larger Uralic language family and speak the Selkup language, which has several dialects. Traditionally, the Selkups have relied on reindeer herding, fishing, and hunting for their livelihoods.
Culturally, the Selkup people have a rich heritage that includes unique folklore, music, and crafts. Their traditional beliefs often involve a deep connection to nature and the spiritual world. In recent years, efforts have been made to preserve their language and customs in the face of modernization and external influences.
