Sclerenchyma Fibers
Sclerenchyma fibers are a type of plant tissue that provide structural support. They are characterized by their thick, lignified cell walls, which make them rigid and strong. These fibers are typically found in areas of the plant that require additional strength, such as stems and seed coats.
There are two main types of sclerenchyma cells: fibers and sclereids. Sclerenchyma fibers are elongated and often grouped together, while sclereids are shorter and more irregular in shape. Together, they help plants maintain their shape and resist external pressures.
