Sarojini Naidu
Sarojini Naidu was an Indian independence activist, poet, and politician, born on February 13, 1879. She is often referred to as the "Nightingale of India" for her beautiful poetry that celebrated Indian culture and heritage. Naidu played a significant role in the Indian National Congress and was a prominent figure in the struggle for India's freedom from British rule.
In addition to her political contributions, Naidu was the first woman to become the governor of an Indian state, serving as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh from 1947 to 1949. Her work in education and women's rights also made her a key figure in the early feminist movement in India.
