Sargam
Sargam is a term used in Indian classical music to denote the musical notes of the scale. It consists of seven basic notes: Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni. These notes are similar to the Western scale's Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, and Ti. Sargam serves as a foundational element for singing and playing instruments in various genres of Indian music.
In addition to its role in music, Sargam is also used as a teaching tool for beginners. It helps learners understand pitch, melody, and rhythm. By practicing Sargam, musicians can develop their skills and gain a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of Hindustani and Carnatic music traditions.
