Sandhill Cranes
Sandhill Cranes are large, migratory birds known for their long legs and necks, as well as their distinctive gray plumage. They typically stand about 3 to 4 feet tall and have a wingspan of around 6 to 7 feet. These birds are found in North America, particularly in wetlands, grasslands, and agricultural fields, where they feed on grains, seeds, and small animals.
During migration, Sandhill Cranes travel in large flocks, often forming a V-shaped formation in the sky. They are known for their loud, trumpeting calls, which can be heard from great distances. Their breeding season occurs in marshy areas, where they build nests and raise their young, known as colts.
