Saint Margaret of Scotland
Saint Margaret of Scotland was a 11th-century queen known for her piety and charitable works. Born in Hungary, she was the granddaughter of Edmund Ironside, an English king. After fleeing to Scotland with her family, she married Malcolm III, the Scottish king, and became a significant figure in the country's religious and cultural life.
Margaret was instrumental in reforming the church in Scotland, promoting education, and supporting the poor. She is often credited with introducing Roman Catholic practices to the Scottish church. Her legacy includes the establishment of several monasteries and churches, and she was canonized by Pope Innocent IV in 1250.
