Sabancaya Volcano
Sabancaya Volcano is an active stratovolcano located in southern Peru. It is part of the Andes mountain range and stands at approximately 5,976 meters (19,577 feet) above sea level. The volcano has a history of eruptions, with significant activity recorded since 2016, leading to the establishment of a restricted zone around it for safety.
The surrounding area is characterized by diverse ecosystems and is home to various wildlife species. Sabancaya is monitored by the Instituto Geofísico del Perú (IGP) to track volcanic activity and provide early warnings to nearby communities. Its eruptions can produce ash clouds that affect air travel and local agriculture.
