Saami culture
Saami culture is the traditional way of life of the Saami people, indigenous to the northern regions of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. They are known for their reindeer herding, which is central to their economy and cultural identity. The Saami also have a rich tradition of storytelling, music, and handicrafts, including the creation of colorful duodji (traditional crafts).
The Saami language consists of several dialects, which are part of the Uralic language family. Their spiritual beliefs often involve a deep connection to nature, with shamanistic practices historically playing a significant role. Today, the Saami continue to advocate for their rights and cultural preservation in the face of modern challenges.
