Royal Penguin
The Royal Penguin is a unique species of penguin found primarily on the sub-Antarctic islands, particularly Macquarie Island. They are easily recognizable by their striking yellow-orange crests that extend from their eyes to the back of their heads. Royal Penguins are medium-sized, typically standing about 70 cm tall and weighing between 3.5 to 5.5 kg.
These penguins primarily feed on krill, fish, and squid, diving to depths of around 100 meters in search of food. They are known for their social behavior, often nesting in large colonies. The breeding season occurs from September to December, with females laying one egg that both parents take turns incubating.
