Macaroni Penguin
The Macaroni Penguin is a medium-sized penguin known for its distinctive yellow-orange crest feathers that extend from its eyes to the back of its head. They typically weigh between 5.5 to 6.5 kg and stand about 70 cm tall. These penguins are primarily found in sub-Antarctic regions, particularly on islands like South Georgia and Bouvet Island.
Macaroni Penguins are social birds that breed in large colonies. They feed mainly on krill, fish, and squid, diving to depths of up to 70 meters in search of food. Their population is currently stable, but they face threats from climate change and overfishing in their habitats.
