The King Penguin is the second-largest species of penguin, known for its striking orange and yellow markings on its head and neck. They typically weigh between 24 to 40 pounds and stand about 3 feet tall. King Penguins are primarily found on sub-Antarctic islands, where they thrive in cold, marine environments.
These birds are excellent swimmers, capable of diving to depths of over 300 feet in search of fish and squid. Unlike some other penguin species, King Penguins do not build nests; instead, they incubate a single egg on their feet, covered by a flap of skin called a brood pouch.
