Royal Irish Rangers
The Royal Irish Rangers was an infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in 1968. It was created by merging several Irish regiments, including the Royal Ulster Rifles and the Irish Guards. The regiment served in various conflicts, including the Gulf War and operations in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.
In 2006, the Royal Irish Rangers was amalgamated into the Royal Irish Regiment, which continues to serve as a light infantry unit. The regiment is known for its strong community ties in Northern Ireland and its role in peacekeeping and security operations.
