Irish Guards
The Irish Guards are a regiment of the British Army, part of the Household Division. Established in 1900, they were formed to honor the Irish soldiers who fought in the Second Boer War. The regiment is known for its distinctive uniforms, including a plumed hat, and its ceremonial duties, which include guarding royal palaces and participating in state occasions.
In addition to their ceremonial role, the Irish Guards have a history of active service in various conflicts, including both World Wars and more recent operations in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. The regiment is proud of its heritage and maintains strong connections with the Irish community in the UK.
