Roman Army
The Roman Army was the military force of ancient Rome, known for its discipline, organization, and innovative tactics. It played a crucial role in expanding and protecting the Roman Empire, which at its height covered vast territories across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Soldiers, called legionaries, were well-trained and equipped with weapons like the gladius (a short sword) and pilum (a throwing spear).
The army was divided into units called legions, each consisting of about 5,000 men. Support troops, such as auxiliaries, provided additional skills and manpower. The Roman Army not only fought in battles but also built roads and fortifications, helping to maintain control over conquered lands.
