Rhodesian pound
The Rhodesian pound was the currency used in Rhodesia, a former British colony in southern Africa, from 1970 until 1980. It replaced the British pound at par and was subdivided into 20 shillings, with each shilling further divided into 12 pence. The currency was issued by the Reserve Bank of Rhodesia and was primarily used during a time of political and economic turmoil in the region.
In 1980, the Rhodesian pound was replaced by the Zimbabwean dollar following the country's transition to independence and the establishment of Zimbabwe. The change marked a significant shift in the region's economic landscape, as the new currency aimed to stabilize the economy and promote growth after years of conflict and sanctions.
