Reserve Bank of Rhodesia
The Reserve Bank of Rhodesia was established in 1964 as the central bank for the former British colony of Rhodesia, which is now known as Zimbabwe. Its primary functions included issuing currency, managing monetary policy, and overseeing the banking system to ensure financial stability in the country.
The bank played a crucial role during a period of economic challenges and political turmoil, particularly during the Rhodesian Bush War. In 1980, following the country's independence, the Reserve Bank of Rhodesia was restructured and renamed the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, continuing its functions under the new government.
