Rhodesian Pound
The Rhodesian Pound was the currency used in Rhodesia, a former British colony in southern Africa, from 1970 until 1980. It replaced the British Pound at a rate of 1:1 and was subdivided into 20 shillings, with each shilling further divided into 12 pence. The currency was issued by the Reserve Bank of Rhodesia and was primarily used during a time of political and economic turmoil.
In 1980, the Rhodesian Pound was replaced by the Zimbabwe Dollar following the country's transition to independence and the establishment of Zimbabwe. The change marked a significant shift in the region's economic landscape, as the new currency aimed to stabilize the economy and reflect the new political realities after years of conflict.
