Retinal Tear
A retinal tear occurs when the thin layer of tissue at the back of the eye, known as the retina, gets a small break or rip. This can happen due to various reasons, such as aging, trauma, or extreme nearsightedness. If not treated promptly, a retinal tear can lead to more serious conditions, like retinal detachment, which can cause vision loss.
Symptoms of a retinal tear may include seeing flashes of light, floaters, or a shadow in your vision. If you experience any of these signs, it’s important to see an eye doctor immediately. Early detection and treatment can help preserve your vision and prevent complications.
