Resurrection Plants
Resurrection plants are a unique group of plants that can survive extreme dehydration. They are often found in arid environments and can remain in a dormant state for years without water. When exposed to moisture, these plants can quickly rehydrate and resume their normal metabolic functions, appearing green and alive again.
One well-known example of a resurrection plant is the Selaginella lepidophylla, commonly known as the "rose of Jericho." These plants have adapted to survive harsh conditions by developing protective mechanisms that allow them to endure long periods without water, making them fascinating subjects of study in botany and ecology.
