Requests for Comments
Requests for Comments, or RFCs, are a series of documents used to develop and share information about the Internet and its protocols. They cover a wide range of topics, including technical specifications, best practices, and policy guidelines. Each RFC is assigned a unique number and can be authored by anyone, making it a collaborative way to improve and standardize the Internet infrastructure.
The RFC process is overseen by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), which reviews and publishes these documents. While some RFCs are formal standards, others may simply provide insights or suggestions. This open approach encourages innovation and helps ensure that the Internet remains functional and accessible for everyone.
