Raagas
A Raaga is a melodic framework used in Indian classical music, characterized by a specific set of notes and a unique mood or emotion. Each raaga is designed to evoke particular feelings and is often associated with different times of the day or seasons. Musicians use raagas as a basis for improvisation and composition, allowing for creative expression within a structured format.
Raagas are built on a scale of five to seven notes, known as swaras. The arrangement and emphasis on certain notes create a distinct sound and emotional impact. There are numerous raagas, each with its own rules and characteristics, making them an essential part of the rich tradition of Indian music.
