Qurbani (Sacrifice)
Qurbani, or sacrifice, is an important practice in Islam that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Isma'il (Ishmael) in obedience to God. It is observed during the festival of Eid al-Adha, which occurs annually on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah.
During Qurbani, eligible Muslims are required to sacrifice an animal, typically a sheep, goat, cow, or camel. The meat is then divided into three parts: one-third for the family, one-third for relatives and friends, and one-third for those in need, promoting charity and community sharing.
