Islamic Sacrifice
Islamic sacrifice, known as Qurbani or Udhiyah, is a ritual performed by Muslims during the festival of Eid al-Adha. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Isma'il (Ishmael) in obedience to God's command. Instead, God provided a ram to be sacrificed, symbolizing mercy and provision.
During Eid al-Adha, Muslims who can afford to do so sacrifice an animal, typically a sheep, goat, cow, or camel. The meat is then divided into three parts: one-third for the family, one-third for relatives and friends, and one-third for those in need, promoting charity and community support.
