Quinquereme
A quinquereme is an ancient type of warship that was primarily used by the Phoenicians and later by the Romans. It typically had five rows of oars on each side, allowing for greater speed and maneuverability in naval battles. Quinqueremes were larger than earlier ships, enabling them to carry more soldiers and supplies.
These ships played a significant role in maritime warfare during the Hellenistic period and were often equipped with a ram at the front for attacking enemy vessels. The design of the quinquereme influenced naval architecture for centuries, showcasing advancements in shipbuilding techniques.
