Quicksand
Quicksand is a mixture of sand, water, and clay that can behave like a liquid when disturbed. It forms in areas where water saturates loose sand, creating a suspension that can trap objects or people. When pressure is applied, such as stepping on it, the sand particles lose their friction and can cause a sinking effect.
Despite its name, quicksand is not a bottomless pit. It is typically only a few feet deep, and while it can be dangerous, it is not as deadly as often portrayed in movies. People can usually escape by moving slowly and carefully, allowing the sand to regain its stability.
