Queen Velu Nachiyar
Queen Velu Nachiyar was a prominent ruler of the Sivaganga kingdom in Tamil Nadu, India, during the 18th century. She is celebrated for her bravery and leadership in resisting British colonial forces. After her husband, the king, was killed, she took charge of the kingdom and fought to reclaim her territory.
Known for her strategic acumen, Velu Nachiyar formed alliances with other local rulers and even sought help from the French. She is often regarded as one of the first female freedom fighters in India, inspiring future generations to stand against oppression and fight for their rights.
