Kamehameha IV
Kamehameha IV, born Alexander Liholiho on February 9, 1834, was the fourth king of the Hawaiian Islands, reigning from 1855 until his death in 1863. He was the son of Kamehameha III and Queen Kalama. His reign focused on modernizing the Hawaiian Kingdom and improving the welfare of its people, particularly in health and education.
During his time as king, Kamehameha IV established the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, which aimed to provide better healthcare for Hawaiians. He was also known for his efforts to promote the Hawaiian culture and language, as well as for his commitment to the welfare of children, including the establishment of the Kamehameha Schools.
