Queen Desideria
Queen Desideria, born Marie Josephine of Leuchtenberg, was the first queen consort of Brazil from 1822 to 1825. She married Dom Pedro I, the first Emperor of Brazil, and played a significant role in the country's early history following its independence from Portugal. Desideria was known for her dedication to social causes and her efforts to promote education and culture in Brazil.
After her husband's abdication in 1831, Desideria returned to Europe, where she lived in France. Despite her departure from Brazil, she remained a beloved figure in Brazilian history. Her legacy includes her contributions to the arts and her influence on the royal family.
