Queen Catherine of Aragon
Queen Catherine of Aragon was the first wife of King Henry VIII of England. Born in Spain in 1485, she was the daughter of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Catherine married Henry's older brother, Arthur, but he died shortly after their wedding. She then married Henry in 1509, becoming queen consort.
Catherine was a devout Catholic and played a significant role in the early years of Henry's reign. She gave birth to several children, but only one, Mary I, survived infancy. Their marriage faced challenges, particularly when Henry sought an annulment to marry Anne Boleyn, leading to a significant religious and political upheaval in England.
