Pseudologia Fantastica
Pseudologia Fantastica, also known as pathological lying, is a psychological condition where an individual consistently tells falsehoods or fabricates stories. These lies are often elaborate and can be motivated by a desire for attention, sympathy, or to escape reality. Unlike typical lying, the individual may believe their own fabrications, making it difficult to distinguish between truth and deception.
This condition is often associated with other mental health issues, such as borderline personality disorder or narcissistic personality disorder. Treatment typically involves psychotherapy, where the individual can explore the underlying reasons for their behavior and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
