Provisional Government of Hawaii
The Provisional Government of Hawaii was established in January 1893 after a group of American and European residents overthrew the reigning monarch, Queen Liliʻuokalani. This government aimed to facilitate the annexation of Hawaii to the United States and was led by a committee known as the Committee of Safety.
The provisional government was short-lived, as it was replaced by the Republic of Hawaii in 1894. The annexation of Hawaii was eventually completed in 1898, leading to its status as a U.S. territory. This period marked significant changes in Hawaii's political landscape and its relationship with the United States.
