Principality Of Hutt River
The Principality of Hutt River was a micronation located in Western Australia, founded in 1970 by Leonard Casley. It was established when Casley declared his farm a sovereign state in response to disputes with the Australian government over wheat production quotas. The principality operated independently for over four decades, issuing its own currency and passports.
Hutt River covered an area of about 75 square kilometers and attracted tourists interested in its unique status. In 2020, the principality was officially dissolved, and its land was returned to the Australian government, marking the end of its unusual existence as a self-proclaimed nation.
