Princess Elisabeth of Hesse
Princess Elisabeth of Hesse was born on November 1, 1864, in Darmstadt, Germany. She was the daughter of Grand Duke Louis IV of Hesse and Princess Alice of the United Kingdom, making her a member of both the Hesse and British royal families. In 1884, she married Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia, becoming a member of the Russian imperial family. Elisabeth was deeply involved in social causes, particularly in healthcare and education. She was later canonized as a saint in the Russian Orthodox Church for her humanitarian efforts and devotion to faith.
