Prince Rupert of the Rhine
Prince Rupert of the Rhine was a prominent military leader and royalist during the English Civil War. Born in 1619, he was the son of Frederick V, Elector Palatine and Elizabeth Stuart, the daughter of King James I of England. Rupert was known for his cavalry tactics and played a significant role in several battles, including the Battle of Edgehill and the Siege of Bristol.
In addition to his military career, Rupert was also an accomplished artist and scientist. He contributed to the development of the Royal Society and was interested in various fields, including painting and natural philosophy.
