Pouteria
Pouteria is a genus of flowering plants in the family Sapotaceae, which includes around 200 species. These plants are primarily found in tropical regions of the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Many species produce edible fruits, such as the canistel and sapodilla, which are enjoyed for their sweet flavors and nutritional benefits.
The trees and shrubs in the Pouteria genus vary in size and can be evergreen or deciduous. They typically have thick, leathery leaves and produce small, often inconspicuous flowers. The fruits are usually fleshy and can be round or oval, making them appealing to both wildlife and humans.
