Porcine Circovirus Associated Disease
Porcine Circovirus Associated Disease (PCVAD) is a health condition affecting pigs, primarily caused by the Porcine Circovirus (PCV). This virus can lead to various symptoms, including weight loss, respiratory issues, and skin lesions. PCVAD is most commonly seen in young pigs, particularly those between 6 weeks and 6 months of age.
The disease can manifest in different forms, such as Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS) and Porcine Dermatitis and Nephropathy Syndrome (PDNS). Effective management strategies, including vaccination and biosecurity measures, are essential to control the spread of PCV and minimize its impact on pig farming.
