Pope Martin V
Pope Martin V, born Oddone Colonna in 1368, served as the 206th pope from 1417 until his death in 1431. He was elected during the Council of Constance, which aimed to resolve the Western Schism, a period of division in the Catholic Church with multiple claimants to the papacy. His election helped restore unity to the Church and reestablish the authority of the papacy.
During his papacy, Martin V focused on reforming the Church and strengthening its governance. He worked to regain the trust of the faithful and improve relations with various European powers. His leadership marked a significant step towards healing the divisions within the Church.
