Pope Alexander V
Pope Alexander V was a pope who served from 1409 to 1410. He was elected during the Council of Pisa, which aimed to resolve the Western Schism, a period when multiple individuals claimed to be pope. His election was an attempt to unify the Catholic Church, but it did not succeed in ending the schism.
Born as Pietro Filargo in Venice, he was a scholar and a member of the Franciscan Order. His papacy was short-lived, lasting only about a year before his death. After his passing, the schism continued until the election of Pope Martin V in 1417.
