Pok-A-Tok
Pok-A-Tok is an ancient Mesoamerican ball game played by the Maya and Aztec civilizations. The game involved two teams trying to pass a rubber ball through a stone hoop using their hips, forearms, and thighs. It was not only a sport but also held significant cultural and religious importance, often linked to rituals and ceremonies.
The playing field, known as a ball court, was typically shaped like a capital "I" and featured sloped walls. The game symbolized the struggle between life and death, and the outcome could determine the fate of the players, sometimes even involving human sacrifice for the losing team.
