Pavo Cristatus
The Pavo cristatus, commonly known as the Indian peafowl or peacock, is a large bird native to the Indian subcontinent. It is renowned for its vibrant plumage, particularly the male's iridescent tail feathers, which can be fanned out in a spectacular display during courtship rituals. These feathers feature eye-like patterns, known as "ocelli," that attract potential mates.
Peafowls are omnivorous, feeding on a diet that includes seeds, insects, and small animals. They are social birds, often found in groups, and are known for their loud calls. The Pavo cristatus is also the national bird of India, symbolizing grace and beauty.
