Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD)
The Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) is a political party in Mexico founded in 1989. It emerged from a coalition of leftist groups and was established to promote democracy, social justice, and human rights. The PRD has historically positioned itself as a center-left party, advocating for progressive policies and reforms.
The PRD gained prominence in the 1990s and early 2000s, particularly under the leadership of figures like Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, a key founder. Over the years, the party has faced challenges, including internal divisions and competition from other parties, such as the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the National Action Party (PAN).
