Mexican Politics
Mexican politics operates within a federal republic framework, where power is divided between the national and state governments. The country has a multi-party system, with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), National Action Party (PAN), and Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) being some of the major political parties. Elections are held every six years for the presidency, and legislative elections occur simultaneously.
The political landscape in Mexico has been shaped by issues such as corruption, drug violence, and economic inequality. The current president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has focused on social programs and anti-corruption measures, aiming to address these longstanding challenges.
