Parliament of New Zealand
The Parliament of New Zealand is the supreme legislative body in New Zealand, responsible for making and passing laws. It consists of a single chamber called the House of Representatives, which is made up of Members of Parliament (MPs) elected by the public. The Parliament meets in the Beehive, the executive wing of the New Zealand Parliament Buildings in Wellington.
Parliament operates under a mixed-member proportional electoral system, ensuring that the representation of political parties reflects the overall vote. The Governor-General represents the monarch and performs ceremonial duties, while the Prime Minister leads the government and is usually the head of the largest party in Parliament.
