Governor-General
A Governor-General is a representative of the monarch in a country that is part of the Commonwealth, such as Australia or Canada. This official acts on behalf of the monarch, performing ceremonial duties and ensuring that the government operates according to the constitution. The Governor-General is appointed by the monarch, usually on the advice of the Prime Minister.
In addition to ceremonial roles, the Governor-General has certain constitutional responsibilities, such as giving royal assent to legislation and appointing the Prime Minister. While the position is largely symbolic, the Governor-General plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability and continuity of the government.
