Pandurs
Pandurs were a type of irregular military unit that originated in the Habsburg Monarchy during the 18th century. They were primarily composed of local volunteers and were known for their light infantry tactics, which allowed them to move quickly and engage in guerrilla warfare. Their primary role was to protect the borders and conduct raids against enemy forces.
The term "Pandur" is derived from the Serbo-Croatian word for "guard" or "watchman." These troops played a significant role in various conflicts, including the Austro-Turkish Wars and the Seven Years' War. Their unique fighting style and local knowledge made them valuable assets in military campaigns.
