Panchayat
A Panchayat is a traditional system of local self-governance in rural areas of India. It consists of elected representatives who make decisions on local issues, manage community resources, and resolve disputes. The structure typically includes a village head, known as the Sarpanch, and a council of members, ensuring that the voices of the community are heard.
Panchayats operate at different levels: the Gram Panchayat for villages, the Panchayat Samiti for blocks, and the Zila Parishad for districts. This system promotes grassroots democracy and empowers local populations to participate in governance, addressing their specific needs and challenges.
