Panama's sloths
Panama is home to two species of sloths: the two-toed sloth and the three-toed sloth. These slow-moving mammals are often found in the tropical rainforests, where they spend most of their time hanging from trees. Sloths are known for their unique adaptations, such as a low metabolic rate and a diet primarily consisting of leaves.
Sloths have a distinctive appearance, with long limbs and a furry coat that can host algae, providing camouflage. They are primarily nocturnal and are excellent swimmers, using their long arms to paddle through water. Their slow lifestyle helps them conserve energy in their nutrient-poor diet.
